Free Outdoor Dance Performance

Join TRYST Friday, September 17th and Saturday, September 18th from 7-8 PM in downtown Harrisonburg for a unique performance of dance and song. This site-responsive performance explores the power of connection and community through presence and play, drawing on the inherent wisdom of the body and our evolutionary powers as social creatures.

With the support of the land, the wildly intuitive body (including the voice!), and the many innovative artists who have paved the way in exploratory somatics, this small group of Friendly City citizens, just like you, will gather to remind us of the ever accessible healing powers of connection. With an intention of curiosity and openness, we work to attune ourselves to one another and nature in order to witness a unique emergence in space and time with the help of body and voice.

Location: 311 S. Main Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22801 behind the Arts Council of the Valley building (look for the new installation piece by Jeff Guinn called “The Language of Love” to find us)

This performance is free, ADA accessible, outdoors and open to the public (no RSVP required). If additional accommodations are desired, please contact TRYSTdance@gmail.com

Parking: There is plenty of parking around City Hall and Turner’s Pavilion for guests. The closest ADA accessible parking is located at the Arts Council of the Valley parking lot which is immediately next to the performance site.

COVID-19: Although outdoors, we recognize that any group gathering poses the possibility for transmission of COVID-19. To best protect each other and our community, TRYST asks all attendees to wear a face mask during the performance whether vaccinated or not.

Rain dates: In case of rain, performances will be held the following weekend, Friday September 24th and Saturday September 25th. Check back here for cancellation updates in case of rain.
